Joseph Plummer’s experience is vast – which is one of the many reasons he is a legend. He has a depth of practical, tested and proven knowledge like no one else, and he uses plain language to share it.
After graduating with a PHD at Ohio State University, Joe started his career in advertising as a Director of Research at Leo Burnett in Chicago. 12 years later, he headed to the big apple and never left.
Joe spent 10 years at Y&R where he was the Executive Vice President before heaing to DMB&B as Vice Chairman where he stayed for 8 years.
At McCann Worldgroup he was EVP for 9 years before
holding executive positions with the Advertising Research Foundation (CRO) and being a key player in the kick-off of the Marketing Accountability Standards Board’s (MASB) in 2007.
He joined The Boardroom Project in 2006, and was instrumental in MASB’s 2007 CFO Outreach Project. He served another 6 years as a Founding Director of MASB and Trustee of the Foundation (MAF).
Joe has contributed to 10 books across three decades as well as numerous articles for industry publications. His own book entitled “The Online Advertising Playbook” was published in 2007
He has been awarded as a Distinguished Practitioner with the Marketing Science Association and received the Lifetime Achievement Award from the Advertising Research Foundation in 2011.
He currently serves on six boards and is an adjunct Professor at the Columbia Business School in New York
